At Boroughbridge library you can borrow a range of books, DVDs, large print books, story tapes and talking books.
Boroughbridge library is run by two organisations; North Yorkshire County Council and the Boroughbridge Area Community Library Association (BACLA).
BACLA came into existence in mid-2011when NYCC was debating whether to close our local library altogether or reduce the number of hours during which it is open. In the event, the County Council decided that it didn’t need to save quite as much money as was at first thought to be necessary and the result (for the time being at least) was a reduction in hours of opening.
While County were deliberating, the community asked a small group of people (mainly members of local councils) to get together as a kind of ‘action group’ to see what could be done to maintain a full range of library services in the town, for the benefit of Boroughbridge.
There are the following facilities at the library.
- baby changing
- internet and computer access
- local studies
- meeting rooms available for hire
- study area
