Open Country is a charitable organisation which enables anyone with a disability to access the countryside through the provision of countryside activities, information, training and advice.
Open Country members undertake valuable conservation and footpath repair work each week of the year. The jobs may be dirty, but are suitable for most capabilities. Tools, training and transport are provided.
Open Country have been awarded the following:
Recipient of the Duke of York’s Community Initiative 2008.
Recipient of the Queen’s award for Voluntary Service 2006.
Winner of the ‘Best Action for the Environment Award’ 2005.
